ADSL works in conjunction with
your existing telephone line. Equipment is installed at the
telephone companies’ facility location, which allows Internet
data to be sent over your telephone line. Because the data is
sent by way of a high frequency signal on your existing telephone
lines, some telephones will experience a slight background noise
that sounds like rushing water. Filters are available for those
telephones. These filters should also be placed on FAX machines,
modems and other equipment attached to the line carrying the
ADSL signal. One filter is included in the ADSL modem kit. Although
ADSL is provided over your existing telephone line, the technology
allows you to use the Internet while making and receiving standard
telephone calls.
The installation of the filters
is very simple. The line cord for the telephone (or FAX, modem,
etc.) is unplugged from the wall receptacle, the filter is plugged
into the receptacle and the telephone is plugged into the filter.
If you have a large number of
devices needed filters, a single filter can be installed at
a central point on your telephone circuit. This may require
the assistance of a person knowledgeable in telephone wiring.
Aznetgate can provide these services through a local telephone
installation company. These services, as well as any other on
site assistance needed are available at extra charge.
Also needed is an ADSL modem.
This modem is significantly different than a standard computer
modem. You may purchase the modem directly from AZnetgate or
from the vendor of your choice. Please contact AZnetgate for
a list of ADSL modems known to work with Aznetgate’s ADSL
service. The ADSL modems sold by Qwest WILL work with Aznetgate’s
ADSL service. So if you currently have Qwest/MSN ADSL service
and wish to switch to Aznetgate’s UNINTERRUPTED ADSL service
your modem investment will not be lost.
The installation of the ADSL
modem is also a simple process. The ADSL modem is plugged into
a telephone receptacle. Your computers network card or network
hub is then plugged into the ADSL modem. If a hub is used, all
computers that will use the ADSL service must be plugged into
the hub. The ADSL modem kit sold by AZnetgate includes all of
the cables and supplies necessary to connect a single computer
to the Internet through ADSL service.
Your computer needs an Ethernet
network card (no computer modem is required). Ethernet cards
are readily available for PCs and most Macs. If you are going
to have more than one computer on a single ADSL connection,
you will need an Ethernet hub in addition to an Ethernet card
for each computer. Macs and PCs can be mixed on the same connection
without problems.
AZnetgate will be happy to install
your ADSL service for you. Or our highly experienced technical
support staff can help you install and configure your Internet
connection.
